Tourism suffering big time

leave a comment »

Tourism Fiji military appointed chairman, Patrick Wong, has finally succummed to the truth we have been telling him to admit – that Fiji tourism is effed, big time!

Meanwhile, his interim minister, Aiyaz Khaiyum, is galavanting somewhere in Europe giving his dose of waffles to whoever it is he is meeting.

So what they gonna do to bring bumbs to Fiji?

Maybe they should put Frank’s face on all their TV, print ads with a hibiscus flower tucked on his right ear saying, “Frank Me says – come to papa veovles!”

And whose gonna take the offer?

Frank’s gremlins! LOL

Sugar industry becomes Fiji’s bitter industry

leave a comment »

The internal bickering and finger-pointing happening between the stakeholders of Fiji’s sugar industry just comes to show the bitterness, shallowness, self-serving nature of the very people behind this otherwise sweet industry.

And the interesting thing about it is that the very people who live off the sugar industry, the cane farmers, the fertilizers and the millers, are the ones who are now tearing each other apart.

For a long time, it was these three, plus the prompting of their political master, Mahendra Chaudhry, against the indigenous Fijian landowners and their trustee, NLTB.

All of a sudden, the land issue which has been Chaudhry’s main political campaign trump card has been shoved to the backburner.

The land has become a non-issue. For now, at least, while the growers, the fetilizer and the millers draw blood out of each other.

Is this incident saying something?

Can the people of Fiji see what’s happening here?

We hope so!

But for the benefit of those who can’t, let us tell you, but first, put on your coconut leaf goggles so you can see.

Got it? Right!

Let’s start by asking, where the hell is Mahendra Chaudhry during all this kahfafahl?

In India. Ok.

What is he doing there?

Visiting his clan, selling Fiji to India while attending to his sick wife’s medical needs (we hope she recovers speedingly- we love her humbleness and forgiving good heart).

Why isn’t he saying much?

Mahendra Chaudhry has probably realised that trying to appease his sugar cane belt followers is such a thankless task that has cost him so much, minus that $2million in Aussie.

He has probably come to a point of his life where he is seriously reconsidering his priorities of life – sugar, family, power, money?

But let’s give it to Mahendra Chaudhry, without him, the sugar industry would have been history long time ago.

Now that the sugar industry is heading straight for doom, will Chaudhry make a come-back as its savior?

We think so.

We think he is allowing the sugar industry to hit rock bottom to give him the perfect excuse to make a comeback.

And what a comeback it will be.

We predict he will use the “before and after” sugar industry performance indicators to plead his case to the EU to step in and release that sugar grant they are witholding since the coup.

When that happens, we think he will re-enter the regime, back to his old office as interim Minister Finance and Sugar.

Whether you like it or not, Mahendra Chaudhry is the sugar industry guru – no matter how bitter it taste!

SDL vs FLP give-away grants

leave a comment »

There has been plenty talks about grants approved by SDL and FLP.

Giving out grants is a common tool used by politicians to keep their voters happy.

Coverting loans to grants was also adopted by the Alliance and SVT during their ruling days.

But let us focus on some of the so-called “controversial” grants adopted by SDL and FLP.

SDL, on the eve of the 2006 election, approved  that the Fijian Affairs Board $20million loan it borrowed from taxpayers to start-up FHL be converted to a grant.

FHL was in a very healthy position to have paid back the $20million plus interest and we believe that FHL should have paid back the money in good faith and as good corporate citizens.

But with the SDL converting the $20million loan to a grant, FHL no longer had to worry about paying back anything except for the handsome yearly dividend it paid to its shareholders, the indigenous Fijians, some of whom are taxpayers themselves whose monies was used by FHL to start the company.

Other taxpayers not classified as indigenous Fijians, indirectly got a return on investment from FHL via the corporate profit tax they pay to FIRCA every year which FIRCA collected on behalf of the government of the day for developmental purposes and things.

SDL was probably working under the premise that the $20million loan cum grant was a good way to keep the FHL shareholders (provincial councils, yavusas, tikinas, Fijian family companies and individuals) happy with the 2006 election just around the corner.

Those from the outside looking in can not be blamed for thinking that the SDL grant approval was typical of the Fijian hand-out mentality and the discriminatory Fijian affirmative action that SDL became synonymous with.

But with hindsight, we still hold to our belief that FHL should have paid back that $20million.

And with that US$10million non-refundable deposit paid by FHL to buy the shaky BP Oil deal, it would have been better spent if it was used to pay back the initial start-up $20million loan from taxpayers, which we are sure is something this broke regime would have loved to have received.

Now, let’s swing to the other side of the pendulum.

FLP, through its leader were responsible for the $44.5 million grant directed to the sugar industry between 1999-2008.

This amount would obviously be more if other “silent” grants promoted by FLP is included.

Today, all that grant pumped into the sugar industry by FLP and Chaudhry didn’t seem to have made a positive change to the industry.

If anything, the industry is dying a slow death which kinda made those grants a rather wasteful exercise which some could claim as a typical voter appeasing and voter buying exercise by FLP and Mahendra Chaudhry.

So comparing the SDL $20million FHL grant vs FLP’s $44.5million for their sugar cane industry political backbone, it is no wonder that indigenous Fijians are crying foul for Chaudhry’s conniving political manouverings to feed his voters, while the SDL  became anxious to catch up and match the grants taken by Chaudhry for the benefit of their own voters leaving the national kitty high and dry.

Teleni a false prophet is an understatement

leave a comment »

By Feduphilly

false prophet is an understatement ..
Teleni has become a power seeking, chauvanistic, racist pig who has nothing better all day than to project his religion on those who have better things to do – like policing our country perhaps ..
if these crusades continue, our police force will become more of a laughing stock than it already is ..
keep up the good work teleni and watch crime rates rise and our criminals become apart of that joke called the yellow ribbon campaign. let them beg for mercy then get released early. lets just wait and see when it will start ..
OH WAIT !!
it already has hasnt it ??

FHL sells high return Fosters shares to pay BP non-refundable deposit

leave a comment »

We’ve been reliably informed that the desperate FHL board has sold off the company’s Fosters shares to fund US$10million non-refundable deposit required by BP during the signing of the Sale and Purchase agreement

Fosters shares is one, if not, the most lucrative stock in FHL’s shares portfolio.

A portfolio that was giving FHL a steady $1.5million dividend income every year for more than 10 years.

But now ,that high yield stock has gone and with it the annual $1.5million income that FHL was happily receiving with no sweat for a long time.

Our sources say that the FHL board were desperate to come up with the US$10million they didn’t have.

Things got worse when none of the local banks wanted to lend them that much.

And so off they went and sold off one of the bluest chip stocks they had, the Fosters shares.

As pundits would say, now is not the time to be selling since prices of shares, real estate and everything else have plummeted.

Which means that the FHL board did not get premium capital gains from the liquidated Fosters shares which again is a stupid, stupid move by the board.

Some have even suggested that it was the holier than thou Sereana Qoro’s idea to sell the Foster’s shares because she didn’t agree to FHL being part of a beer brewing plant.

FHL controlled by Aziz Mohammed & Musa

leave a comment »

Latest from FHL house is that its deputy chairman, Col Aziz Mohammed and CFO, Musa, are going all out to give away the indigenous Fijian owned FHL company to the Indian financier.

The biggest shareholders, Fiji’s 14 provincial councils, are up in arms with the FHL board for getting into a no-brainer BP buy-out deal that will literally transfer the ownership of FHL to the Indian financier.

We can report here that Aziz Mohammed and Musa are the main guys behind the poor management due diligence which the board approved and adopted.

As reported on our sister anti-coup blog, solivakasama.org, we can confirm that Colonel Aziz Mohammed is  in India in his capacity as deputy chairman of FHL in a last minute bid to the cold-footed financier to go ahead with the funding.

According to our sources, the Indian financier knows that their $190million will be a kiss of death when a democratically elected government rules over Fiji.

They know that the major shareholders of FHL are against the BP acquisition which could become a major obstacle in FHL’s future earnings.

They also say that the Indian financier is questioning the $80million  premium highlighted by the Cakaudrove provincial council and they are asking FHL why they offered $190million while the second highest bidder offered around $100million.

And sources from within say that Sereana Qoro is doing all it takes to save face from the already kaput deal.

Is Teleni doing the right thing imposing his god onto others?

leave a comment »

By The Believer

Teleni is on a mission – to harvest souls.

Which souls? I dunno!

He says it is his appointment by his god that he be Fiji’s Police Commish (forced by the gun).

He says he has been called by his god to convert the unconvertables, starting from his own Police Force down to their family members.

He says if his police officers don’t like it, then they should piss off from his face and from the Police Force.

Is Teleni for real?

Of course not!

TELENI IS A FALSE PROPHET!

How do I know?

Teleni’s spirit is not about liberty, he’s about oppression.

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Cor. 3:17)

“Many false prophets (teachers or apostles) will bring people under their controlling spirit. Choice has been taken away and replaced with their rulership over the flock. God is no longer consulted, the leader now is. This is an abomination unto God because He died for personal relationship with the individual. Now another Savior has been set up and it is not Jesus. This is an idol that has been set up before the Lord and even worse is the one who would take the glory knowingly from the Lord. There is a difference in Godly discipline that teaches how to make the right choices and protects the flock, and domination that instills the fear of one person over another, and/or a laziness that denies God.”

Try this one again on Teleni.

Where is the focus of the prophet? Is it on fear or salvation? There are a lot of “fear prophecies” that do not invoke a healthy fear of the Lord, but rather a fear of possible events.

Teleni’s crusade is on fear, not salvation!

Try another.

Ye shall know them by their fruits.

Event – Teleni evangelizing in police uniform while harvesting some souls.

Result – More criminal activities with criminal elements inspired to kill their victims by stoning or bombing (methods never heard of before in Fiji).

God Bless Fiji!

Tortured citizens should plead their case now

leave a comment »

We think that Kenneth Zinck, Ulai Taoi, Richard Naidu, the Lami democracy shrine youth group,  and other civilians who were tortured by the junta should now plead their cases in court.

While we respect the decision by most of these victims to forgive their perpetrators, we still think that it is their responsibility as law-abiding citizens to seek justice, not only for themselves, but for such draconian brutality never to happen to other unarmed Fiji citizens.

Why didn’t Chaudhry admit $44.5 million sugar grant?

leave a comment »

The truth is slowly but surely being revealed.

Mahendra Chaudhry himself has admitted approving a $42million grant as sugar crop rehabilitation programme in 1999-2000 when he was Prime Minister.

He has further admitted to another $2.5million grant he approved to South Pacific Fertiliser in 2008 when he was interim Minister Finance.

That’s a whooping $44.5million grant or taxpayers money given freely to salvage the sugar industry.

How come Chaudhry kept quiet about it until now?

$44.5million?

Wow, how about redirecting that kind of grant to other agricultural produce?

FHL shareholders should seek a court stay order

leave a comment »

FHL shareholder(s) should seek a stay order seeking the courts permission that FHL board and management be demanded to explain to them in detail how they have structured the BP acquisition deal before it is too late.

FHL shareholders stand to loose lots from this crazy deal and it is to their best interest that their board and management explain to them in dollars and cents how they will benefit from this controversial deal.

We agree with the provincial councils concerns that the size of the deal is too big and risky.

We agree with Cakaudrove that the FHL board should re-look at their exit strategy.

But by golly, do more by seeking a court order!!

What’s happened to the 31st March deadline FHL?

leave a comment »

Didn’t FHL Chairman, Isoa Kaloumaira, and its CEO, Sereana Qoro, say that 31st March was the deadline for their BP South West Pacific purchase?

Now, Sereana is saying that the acquisition “is expected to happen in a few weeks”.

A few weeks?

Like how many weeks Sereana Qoro?

Why can’t you just own up and tell the truth – that the deal has fallen through!!!

What is India trying to prove?

leave a comment »

So India paid for Frank’s trip to acquire a discounted piece of real estate to build a Fiji Embassy in New Delhi, amongst other things?

Does India consistently fund visiting country heads who wish to set up embassies on their turf?

We don’t think so!

So why the special treatment to Frank and his junta India?

Something smells fishy!

Winston Thompson not happy

leave a comment »

We sure hit a raw nerve on a previous thread where we had denounced Winston Thompson as a typical coup apologist and corrupt opportunist.

The man doesn’t like it and he still claims that he will bring good to Fiji from Washington DC.

Sorry Winston Thompson, we are not here to impress nobody, especially people like you who have turned out to be the worst role model for Fiji’s next generation.

We are here to tell confused seniors like you that it is NOT right to support or be seen to be part of an illegal military regime who have shed blood in the name of introducing their version of a bloody divisive worse-off Fiji.

So what legacy will you leave behind Winston Thompson?

What will the children of Fiji, and your granchildren for that matter, remember of you when you pass on?

You’ll be kidding yourself if you think they will remember you as an ex-Telecom boss and what not.

You Winston will be remembered as a pathetic stupid fool who believe that good can be birthed from bad.

Sure, you did some excellent progress in your work front but Winston, you were paid to bring about success to whatever organization you’ve worked for so nothing is owed to you, nor can you claim that your good efforts were not fairly remunerated.

Now that you are being sent off to Washington DC,NOT to be Fiji, but the junta’s Ambassador, and not for free either, but paid for by Fiji’s suffering taxpayers, what do you see Winston?

From where we stand, we see an unprincipled old man who has adopted that lazy, crooked ideal of, “if you can’t beat them join them.”

The people of Fiji are bigger than that Winston!

As for us Winston Thompson, we will not be moved fighting for the freedom and liberty of Fiji peoples.

We will fight on cutting off the shackles of the oppressive coup virus that people like you continue to poison Fiji with.

And don’t ever say that we didn’t warn you!

Good call Daniel Gounder!

leave a comment »

What a sigh of relief to see that the brutal snuffing out of a person’s life is still considered in Fiji’s courts as a straight-out murder, which is rebuked in the good book as one of the ten commandments one shall not do.

Unless of course if the Shaista’s of this world are already drafting their warped counter argument claiming that papa Pressie’s immunity promulgation is all one needs to forgive their sins.

But we say, good on you Daniel Gounder for not recognising the immunity decree to those who have killed, tortured and continue to inflict cowardly acts of crime against Fiji civilians.

Kudos to you Daniel Gounder on your good call!

Beware Frank & Co.

leave a comment »

The Fiji team win in Hong Kong has brought shivers down Frank & Co.’s spine.

This is the win that has been eluding Fiji for soo long and this is the win that Frank & Co are dreading.

To many believers, the win could very well be the sign they have been waiting for to confirm that the beginning of Frank’s fall is coming to pass.

Is this the sporting event win prophesied in 1997 that will bring bloodshed after a man of sedition suddenly rises to prominence?

The Methodist Christian Church month long fast and praying is coming to an end and already, like never before, dangerous evil forces hungry to kill and spill innocent children, women, men and families  blood in their sleep were already manifesting themselves in the physical throughout the month.

A new and very deadly kind of terrorism by a ruthless bombing squad gripped Fiji this month.

The killer force knew that reckoning time was near.

Many thought that the sign of the times was going to arrive with the Fiji team reclaiming the Melrose Rugby Sevens Cup.

That wasn’t to be and the Fiji peoples feelings of hopelessness dropped further to sub-zero levels.

But now with the Hong Kong Sevens win in the bag, is it confirmation that the time is now for repentance by those who have killed, brutalized and oppressed in the name of cleaning up Fiji?

Has team Fiji with the help of the prayer warriors in Fiji won the unseen ammunition that will  strike down team Frank?

Oh yes definitely.

We don’t doubt that at all.

Tick tock tick tock tick tock……….

FWRM office attack linked to Driti & Ali’s exchange

leave a comment »

Sources say that the attack targeted at the FWRM office is linked to Driti’s angry remarks aimed at shutting out feminist Shameema Ali’s statement who rubbished Driti’s call that critics of the regime zip up.

FWRM collaborate with Shameema Ali’s Women’s Crisis centre.

While Ali’s office at Gordon St remain untouched, it’s sister NGO Fiji Women’s Rights Movement office in Knolly St has become the latest point of attack by Driti’s cowardly thugs.

Driti will deny any association to the latest attack but the unsaid perception by the public pointing at Driti and his thugs is all that matters – not what Driti says.

Fiji Womens Rights office attacked

leave a comment »

Word from our sources in Fiji say that the latest targeted attack by some thugs believed to be supported by senior members of the military regime has moved onto the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement office.

While no mainstreamn media is reporting on it just yet, we have been told that the attack was done by professionals who were sent there to remove certain files and information that interested them.

We are not sure though what type of information was stolen or how much damage there was.

Perhaps the main media can take the cue from here and dig in abit more.

Winston Thompson a pathetically unprincipled man

leave a comment »

One good thing about the coup is the way it has intrinsically exposed the real hearts of men and women, in particular, those pretentious ones who camouflaged themselves soo well as fake law-abiding citizens.

One by one, they have openly displayed their real selves in the choices they make in such difficult times as this.

The old adage that says, ” a man’s choice between right and wrong, especially during old age, is a good indication of their lifetime deeds” is something Winston Thompson should reflect on.

Many would have perceived Winston Thompson as an ethical man up until now.

His life time deeds is unfortunately proven to be soo corruptive with nothing useful to learn from.

Now, Winston Thompson has forever lost his credibility and in its place is  a corrupt desperate man who has sold his soul short to some disgusting bufoons who kill people to gain power.

Again, Winston will argue that he has taken up the offer as his continuing service to Fiji.

But Winston, you are so wrong to think that accepting an illegal military regime’s appointment who have killed, tortured and continue to carry out terrorists bombing attacks on civilians, will be lauded by the peole you’re purporting to represent in Washington DC.

Whose sovereignty are you representing Winston?

The majority people of Fiji don’t support you and your apointees, therefore you are only representing your own selfish motives and those of the junta and NOT the sovereignty of Fiji made up of the people who detest you.

Shame on you Winston Thompson and may the curse of the oppressed Fiji peoples smite you!

Driti, Frank, Ului & Co too girly!

leave a comment »

By Dabomb

Hey, let’s admit it – Driti is better than Frank when it comes to the art of speaking English but unfortunately, the basis of his arguments are still non-sensical like Frank’s.

So what’s all this fanciful girly kinda talk spitted out by Driti!

As we all have said before, Driti, Frank, Ului and the rest of them gang are too girly for anyones liking.

They only know how to dispense their lawlessness at the end of their military rifles.

Without the rifles, mate, they will be running around in their skirts and panties ducking for cover.
