Sorry military junta, we ain’t in the business of impressing anyone
It’s very satisfying to see that anti-coup bloggers are being recognised and responded to by Frank Bainimarama’s junta. Aiyarse Khaiyum’s responses is a very good idea indeed and he has created a healthy forum for those who support the coup and those who don’t. But the junta is so totally wrong to think that we support their coup.
In their blog posts, the junta, or rather, its interim AG Khaiyum, has given everyone a wonderful opportunity to take a microscopic view into the inner recesses of their thinking behavior and thought processes. Khaiyum’s deliberations reveal his reasons why he supports Frank and his 2006 coup.Fine, and we hope that Aiyarse and the rest of Frank’s crew will also respect our position not to support their coup!
For us it’s simple. If you want to change the rules, do it properly, morally and in a civilized dignified manner that is within the globally accepted and prescribed legal framework that binds everyone together e.g forming a political party and take part in a general election campaign. If you can’t do that but chose to make policy changes with a gun, then please accept that you were probably never meant to be a governmental leader but a jailbird perhaps.
