Junta’s new media law out of touch
November 5, 2008
Fiji Times has apologized to the junta for printing a letter that is in contempt of the High Court ruling that has legitimised Frank’s coupĀ of 2006. Whether it was deliberate or otherwise is too late to dwell on. The damage has been done and that letter to the editor writer was able to hammer it out and speak his mind freely about the distorted Gates/Pathik/Byrnes ruling. And we say, good on you Fiji Times for giving a chance to your readers to publicly vent out their supressed anger in words.
And to stifle the media even more, Frank’s gestapo regime is going to impose their media law in December. And we say, bring it on! The truth is this – in this new day and age, information reaches people the way they want to receive it. And guess what, more breaking and detailed news can be found outside of the mainstream media with a touch of a button and people already know that and are accessing it online all the time. Sounds familiar? Yep, that’s us the new i-peoples of this world who don’t rely on the media to tell us waz up and waz down! Can Aiyaz, Frank, Pryde, Leweni or the whole bang lot of them control this new breed of Fiji peoples wid there fanciful media law? Get outta here Frank and your goons, you guys are soo totally out of touch.
