There are fresh revelation today that military appointed boss of FHL, Sereana Qoro, is laughing to the bank with her package of $600,000 per annum. Insiders say she convinced her military appointed Board of Directors to pay her this hefty package after she used her  newly appointed Merchant Bank CEO salary of $400,000 per year as benchmark. This she did before the release of FHL’s annual financial report which proved without doubt that Sereana failed to deliver the results required of her as the then CEO of Basic Industries. And questions are now being raised as to why the new-look FHL Board could justify such an exorbitant salary package for Sereana with the knowledge that she was the non-performer in the FHL group that ultimately led to the nasty reduction in the total group profits.

These sources also say that Sereana now has two company four-wheel drive vehicles after she demanded that the company buy her a new Prado soon after her appointment. She still has her company Mitsubishi one which her secretary uses for Sereana’s personal errands.

But it is also said that Frank, the interim Ministers and the senior military officers are complaining about their girl’s unbelievable pay package saying that she is taking the cream for all their coup-coup hard work. Sources from FICAC have confirmed that Sereana’s predecessor was getting less than half of  what Sereana is now receiving. They say that certain high profile individuals in the junta are up in arms with the FHL Board and Sereana for the huge disparity between what they are receiving compared to what the coup beneficiaries are getting as riders-on.

A coup beneficiary, Isoa Kaloumaira, is not only the CEO of Fijian Trust Fund, a position he got from the Qarase-led government, but he is also the military appointed Chairman of Fiji TV and Fijian Holdings Limited.

Fijian Trust Fund was established by the SDL/FLP multi-party government to act as the investment arm of the GCC enabling the august chiefly body to become self-funding. That vision came to nought after the GCC was couped by Frank making Isoa’s role almost insignificant. He had to move fast and befriend the junta or face losing his job.

Isoa’s sole project was the GCC building in Nasese which Frank said was going to be occupied by government departments. But that arrangement is still hazy with sources now saying that the junta will use it for the Fijian Affairs department headed by Epeli Nailatikau and Frank’s GCC.

There are also speculation that Fijian Holdings Limited and Yasana Holdings will be combined under Fijian Holdings Limited making Yasana’s CEO Bayameyame redundant. Bayameyame is rumoured to be vying for the Fiji TV CEO position while Kaloumaira will continue on as CEO for Fijian Trust Fund reporting to Nailatikau. The floater will also remain as Nailatikau and the junta’s Chairman for FHL and Fiji TV.

Fiji’s people must be prepared for things to get worse. The twisted Frankonomics nation building concept in that group of islands will continue to infiltrate into every home with nothing much to offer except to draw more out of taxpayers’ beaten up wallets.

An elaborate Frankonomics 2009 budget is ready to be delivered by the face, not the brains, behind it. Frank has already announced that 2009 budget will be dedicated to the poor … no….sorry… correction …. the 2009 budget will be dedicated to the military and Frank’s charter.

Right, so if that’s the  case, what’s there in Frankonomics that people should get excited about? Nothing much really. It’ll be another of those wishy washy booklet handed out by Frank’s junta as they go through the motion of their rulership by bluff.

We think that Fiji’s people have already taken precautionary measures to prepare themselves for the long drawn-out Frankonomics crunch. The quiet Diwali celebration is proof of that as people preserve their cash. Compare that to the taxpayer funded celebration organized by the junta like the October 10th day and the Prisons Yellow Ribbon day etc and one can see the real mechanics of Frankonomics at play. The people and the business community are holding on to their cash which stifles real economic activity while on the other hand, Frank’s regime is going balistic spending taxpayers’ money in their nation wide Frankonomics loyalty drive.

Soon and very soon, when international donors pipeline continues to be cut-off topped up with a hopeless investment environment in Fiji, the Frankonomics formula will see a frankly kaput Fiji economy that will take years to revive.

But Frank must be left to run his Frankonomics its full course so that peoples loyalty can be fully tested. Other slimey and shadowy figures will continue to pop up as Frank’s heart is burdened even more by his wrong doings. Frankonomics is unsustainable. It will burst somewhere, somehow. But in the meantime, people should hold onto their cash. Cash is king and will remain that way for as long as Frank is ruler of Fiji.

The usually boombastic Diwali celebration in Fiji with sounds of heavy-duty fireworks blasting off everywhere is not to be. Sources say the quietness of the pre-Diwali nights is eery. Even the eye-popping magnificent lights hung up by faithful Hindu followers at their homes at least one week before Diwali night is hard to find. But even those houses who have these colorful lights seem to be on a dramatic cost-cutting exercise. Waz up?

It seems no one is in a celebration mode in Fiji. They just want to get on with their daily lives quietly without any fanfare. They are tired and anxious for an early election. It is all doom and gloom and the faces you see in Fiji reflect just that – hopelessness.

Even the non-Hindus, in particular the indigenous Fijians who usually dress up in Indian attire complete with Indian sweets and firecrackers are complaining that their Hindu brothers and sisters have not invited them over to their homes this year to share their specially prepared vegetable curry dishes. It’s not that they are not welcomed but life is tough in Fiji. Price of food and just about everything else has shot up making entertaining a thing of the past.

Diwali celebrates the overcoming of evil by all things good but Indo-Fijian Hindus are in no mood to say cheers to that given the tough times they are facing under Frank’s military junta. They are beginning to openly condemn the madness exhibited by Frank and their future seem bleek more than ever. Many just want to catch the next available flight out of Fiji to resettle elsewhere. There is hardly any spark left in Fiji and the non-Hindu segment of the community are said to be complaining that they miss the fun loud noise of Diwali fireworks. Diwali is never the same without the surisuriyas. But one must be careful in reporting such a thing as it can be easily misconstrued by the gun-totting military junta that the people miss their version of fireworks, the dangerous killing kind.

Appeal SDL!

October 27, 2008

SDL owe it to those who voted them in to lodge their appeal this week. They will fail their electorates if they don’t and they might as well close their office and deregister themselves if they do not exhaust all judicial avenues available to them.

On the same breath, ethical lawyers like Graham Leung, Richard Naidu, Jon Apted, Ratu Joni Madaiwiwi and others should now work together in launching another law suit against Frank’s regime to ensure that any technical oversight that may have been present in Qarase’s constitutional case must be avoided with no stones left unturned. Qarase nor SDL lack the clout to fight this legal battle by themselves, therefore it is vital that concerned legal eagles get involved in winning justice for Fiji’s people. It is moments like this when real professionals like Graham Leung and others put into practise what their fraternity is all about i.e to fight for truth and justice for the defenseless.

The expected yah dah yah dah yah dah is ringing loud and clear from Veiuto hills. Nothing, we repeat, nothing that Frank proposes must be entertained. The only bation of hope for Fiji is for SDL, NFP and GVP to stand firm on their resolve to continue fighting Frank’s military regime through the judicial system, allowing their illegitimacy to be battled out at the Supreme Court and if need be, at the International World Court. A coup is a coup is a coup and is illegal. That is the one and only focus that Fiji must stand up to. Nothing more nothing less!

The three parties must NEVER compromise by buying into the electoral reform blackmailing tactic for an early return to democracy. Let them rule the way they want and allow the passive populace in Fiji to experience military dictatorship type of leadership in its entiretyThey probably deserve to experience it first-hand to appreciate the difference between a democratic and tyrannic leadership. Simple rule is that there is no such thing as cherry picking when it comes to choosing between right and wrong. There is no compromise between right and wrong. You can either be right or wrong. Anything in between only brings in new problems in the now and the future. The same rule applies to choosing between whether a coup is right or wrong and common sense says that any coup is wrong, period.

The only solution for Fiji is to fight out Frank’s military regime in court. It will be a long fight but it is the only way to fight the fight given the extremely passive resistance shown by the people of Fiji.

Sereana Qoro, the woman coupster who successfully out-smarted her one-time high profile bosses is feeling very jittery, now that the truth is out there for all to see with the release of their FHL annual report. She is scared that FHL profits has already taken an ugly south-ward turn soon after she usurped it, a disturbing financial performance she will have to explain to their FHL shareholders at their Annual General Meeting next week. So far, she is saying that the reduced profits is due to the new international accounting system FHL has adopted and is even blaming the RB Patel acquistion approved by the previous Board as something that has negatively impacted their bottomline. But the truth is far from her deceitful claims when one studies FHL’s latest annual report.

Sereana is trying in vain to cover up her real dark side that pushed her to join the military regime’s gravy train in couping FHL’s Board and management. And one just has to take a glance at the FHL annual report to see and smell the stench behind her conniving behavior. No one, and not even Sereana Qoro can argue that it was her own Basic Industries Limited of which she was the CEO, that was the weak link and the poorest performer in the FHL Group.

A closer look at the financial report clearly shows that it was Sereana Qoro’s subsidiary company that is the root cause of FHL’s reduced group consolidated profit. It means that Sereana was poorly performing and was obviously not meeting her targets. It means that Sereana’s non-performance and huge financial losses at Basic Industries had to be propped up by the hard work of other CEOs’ and their teams from other FHL subsidiaries. In other words, Sereana’s millions of dollars of losses had to be subsidised by the sweat of other high performing teams from other FHL subsidiary companies. She was riding free on other peoples hard work. She knew she was lagging behind in her financial contribution to the FHL profit pie and she probably felt that her job was on the line and that her performance-driven Board was not going to take her million dollars losses too kindly.  Her preferential affirmative Fijian woman executive career path mapped out under the Fijian Affirmative Action Plan  was coming to an end. Her disastrous track-record from NLTB (not being able to produce NLTB annual reports during her years there), Rewa Dairy ( almost went bankrupt but was saved by the government of the day) and Housing Auhority (was insolvent and couldn’t turn it around until Sitiveni Weleilakeba went in as Chairman) was repeating itself at Basic Industries and she needed to do something to hide her filthy droppings.

A further  analysis of Sereana’s books also exposes her poor money management skills with Basic Industries showing a significant increase in operating expenses that is not matched with a corresponding profitable growth in revenue. There seemed to have been alot of activities happening at Basic Industries but somehow, it was not able to convert itself into profits. So where was the money going to and why wasn’t sufficient income derived from it? Could it be that part of it was channeled to Sereana Qoro, Asif Mussa and Mosese Volavola’s various joint business ventures with Basic Industries own contractors?

The CJ pretender, Anthony Gates and his associates are now geared up to finish off the real CJ, Mr Fatiaki. Sources from Suva’s court house say that Gates and Co. are pushing to drag Fiji’s Chief Justice to court in the next few weeks in their contrived tactic to quickly legitimise and seal their military coup initiated judicial appointments.

This next move by Gates and Co. is a pre-planned one following their unpopular High Court ruling that legalised the 2006 coup. It is only logical that Gates now do all he can to elevate him to the CJ position before his thwarted ruling finds passage to the Appeals Court enroute to the Supreme Court.

And those close to CJ Fatiaki say that he is not saying much at this stage but is very ready to take Gates and Co. head-on when his case is called.

Sources close to Mahendra Chaudhry say he is angry with Qarase for refusing to meet with him to discuss matters in preparation for next Monday’s political dialogue organised by Frank. They say Chaudhry has tried more than once to have an audience with Qarase but Qarase has flatly turned him down.

And our sources from the SDL camp say that it seems that Qarase does not wish to engage with Chaudhry given his poor track record as a serial liar just like Frank. They also said that Qarase doesn’t need Chaudhry to tell him how to prepare for Monday’s meet adding that Qarase is seeking guidance only from his Christian bible and through prayers.

It has been established that one of the key reasons behind Frank’s sudden change of heart in fast-tracking the political party forum to Monday is tied up to the court ruling appeal by the SDL expected to be lodged sometime next week.

Well placed sources say that Frank and his think tank have deviced the political party forum invitation trap to lure Qarase’s SDL  to accept the High Court ruling in particular the immunity component of it and to drop the idea of appealing the ruling.

Frank has said openly that Monday’s meeting will kick off with two key assumptions. One, that the political leaders must accept the court ruling and two, that the charter with its electoral reform among other things will be adopted with no questions asked. We doubt very much that Qarase and his SDL party will allude to these two key assumptions, and we also doubt that SDL will consider dropping the appeals case. From Frank and Co.’s point of view, they already expect Qarase’s SDL to do just that but will use their presence at the forum to justify to the local and international community that they are “serious” in getting Fiji back to democracy through political dialogue.

So, as it stands, there is hardly anything to be excited about. Monday will come and go. Nothing much will change except a few brownie points to Frank for calling the forum before the UN/Commonwealth facilitation begins. Perhaps the people of Fiji should also know that Frank was actually directed by the UN and Commonwealth to call a political dialogue forum before the end of October prior to their officially stepping in as requested to them by Iloilo.

Graham Leung a CJ material

October 22, 2008

Graham Leung is a true fighter. He knows when and how to use what he knows best – his legal wisdom on matters relating to his home country’s constitutional matters. While the face of politics in Fiji continue to change its expression from happy, sad and now to a confused one, Leung is fighting relentlessly lobbying international legal organizations to take note of the events in Fiji and how the tyrant Frank Bainimarama continues to turn Fiji’s sovereign constitutional integrity into a disturbing mendacious one. Leung is a CJ material if he continues to do what he is doing at his own cost!

He didn’t mince his words when he said in Canberra that the High Court ruling deliberated by Gates was a sham. And so does everyone else. But as we had said in one of our previous posting, things are just begining to heat up now in Fiji. It ain’t over yet. In actual fact, the real fight has just begun with the SDL appeal expected to be lodged next week. Gates, Pathik and Brynes leanings towards the tyrant has been confirmed with their warped judgment. The next key figure who will be pulled out of their closet with all these truth telling will be Judge Shameem. She will preside over the SDL appeals case and is expected to uphold the High Court ruling.

But fireworks will happen after Shameem’s ruling in favor of Frank Baimarama and Co. The SDL case will surely end up at the Supreme Court. It’s at the Supreme Court where the fireworks will be released with overseas independent judges expected to preside over the case. These are judges who will teach the likes of Gates, Pathik, Byrnes, Shameem and others how judgments are determined.

Our sources close to Leung have also confirmed that he is working very closely with certain high profile Queens Counsel to take over the case from SDL’s QC Nye Perram who has been appointed an Australian Federal judge a few weeks ago. They say that Leung is doing what he is doing not for SDL but for the sake of protecting the 1997 Constitution. These sources say that QC Geoffrey Robertson, the man who successfully challenged Laisenia Qarase’s interim government in 2000 by representing Chandrika Prasad, has raised his hand to fight the same fight on behalf of Fiji’s people. Robertson is said to be disturbed with the shift in moral values of those who worked with him during the Chandrika Prasad case, many of whom are now leading supporters of Frank’s coup.

Shout it out loud some more Annie Rogers that you da boss! But honestly Annie, you don’t impress no one but you and the military regime that appointed you. You sounding more like Frank and his uncensored big mouth. You haven’t got anything to show for just yet so keep those ramblings to yourself for the time being.

Alright, so you think ICT is the way to go for Fiji because of its high employment numbers and investment opportunities. But c’mon gal, don’t talk wishy washy. Tell us minute details like how much tax rebate we can get if we do invest in Fiji’s ICT. Promise us a discount rate from FINTEL if we are to direct millions of data traffic through its southern cross cable. Promise us continued power supply from FEA that will not hinder our ICT data warehousing, call center, etc. Promise us that we will not become a mini diesel-powered electricity generating business instead of our core ICT business given FEA’s screwed up customer service history. Promise us that we won’t become a mini water supply business given the pathetic state of disrupted water supply in Fiji. Promise us that your regime’s police military rascals will stop bullying the people of Fiji who might just happen to be our potential employees. Promise us that security and stability is there and that no random balaclava rogues with cane knives will torture our security guards. Promise us that all the ICT business incentives will be honored by the next democratically elected government. Promise us there will be no more coups in Fiji that will put a dent to our customers perception of our Fiji operation, etc, etc, etc. Can do Annie? Then we have a deal. Otherwise, shut up and do some real work!

There is no hiding that a hopeless business reality exist in Fiji. Real deal investors have zilch confidence in the military regime so sorry Annie, we already know that you and the regime can not deliver on many of the things we asked you above. Get real Annie!!There is hardly any interested offshore investor silly enough to dabble with your unstable coup-infested economy. There is far too many uncontrollable factors in Fiji to deal with and with your cranky Frank as leader, no thank you. Not interested!!!

How many times has Frank failed Fiji and its people? ALL THE TIME!!!!! Did your heart miss a beat when Frank said, “set, tell those fallas I can see them Monday but no draunimoli please!” Hmmm, doubt it! Were you anxious when you woke up the morning of the High Court ruling by that confused Gates? We bet yah! Were you pissed off with the ruling? Oh shit yeah!

Peoples’ reaction to circumstances around them is a very powerful determinant of what they want. Many had high hopes that with the strangulation of democracy, their last hope, the judiciary, was going to confirm the obvious that a coup is illegal no matter what. But because Gates had proved otherwise, many people were left discontented and let down, not for Qarase, but because their freedom, justice and liberty was denied to them. They are again left at the mercy of a careless dictator who has severe mood swings worse than a clucky mother hen.

And big deal that coupster Frank has set a meeting for all political leaders next Monday! It’s just a continuation of Frank’s long-drawn out “catch me if you can in coup coup land” blockbuster series. It’s a series and not for real. It’s a post-Gates-judgment scheme to appease both the local and international community. It’s a bluff that will end-up with some deraged politicians come Monday when they hear from the horse’s mouth that election ”might” happen in 2010. Anyway, the politicians hardly have any tradable chip that Frank wants to buy. It will be another of those boring, egotistical ”it’s my way or the highway” kinda meeting. Perhaps these politicians should be advised to take their Fijian fan with them to fan Frank’s ego when he slips into his ego trip trance.

Why would Frank and his supporters want to give up power now? Going to election is suicidal for them unless of course if their own party of choice is put in power by hook or by crook. So far, there is no way that can happen with Frank’s widespread unpopularity. Any election reform of soughts will not make it for them either.

The problem with Frank is that he has instilled an image of a serial liar and a stupid fool son-ah-bah-gun mixed with a cocktail of arrogance and pride. People are not that stupid to believe that Frank is a good leader material. Oh no! Actually, they are smarter than Frank because right now, many are taking advantage of all the hand-outs given by Frank and are even conning him into believing that he has their support. Come election time, Fijians will vote for the Fijian party they feel will protect their identity, Indians will vote for the Indian party that can afford to give them free plots of land, others will vote  for their own kind, and some urbanites will vote for the person and not the party. Irrespective of which election system is adopted, many in Fiji will still vote along racial lines, and mind you, even the well-educated ones too.

Having a democratic anti-coup party take charge of Fiji will most definitely take Frank back to moments of despair he experienced during pre-coup times of 2006. He was hunted down by Andrew Hughes and his men and he will be hunted down again like a wild boar with the slammer beconning for him and his backers. He wouldn’t wanna go down that road again, would he?

So frankly speaking (pun intended), Frank ain’t Frank if Monday’s meet closes with a clear timeline for an election. It ain’t gonna happen!!! Don’t hold your breath, he’s a liar and you’ll be punked again by Frank!!

The latest Appeals Court judgment quashing Anthony Gates ruling that imprisoned well-known gynecologist Dr Mudaliar speaks volume of Gates twisted state of mind who is unworthy to be judging others. While we don’t condone abortion, the fact of the matter is that the Chief Justice usurper, Anthony Gates, erred again big time in his judgment. He knowingly disregarded some critical realities surrounding the case that made the concerned partners more than willing parties to the act.

It wasn’t so long ago when he did the unspeakable thing of legalising a coup, and the images of that chief from Naitasiri,Takiveikata, is also very vivid in peoples’ mind. In the latter case, Gates delivered his judgment while cocktailing at the French Ambassador’s house boasting that he was going to put Takiveikata away even when the case was still on work in progress in court. He was probably tipsy. Or maybe he was feeling girly and threw in a pre-judgment or two to impress and show-off to the menfolks around him of his gun-totting godly powers.

Gate’s injustices canvassed on his biased and morally wrong judgment track record must never be left unchallenged. And we are glad that some ethical Fiji lawyers are still committed to spend their own resources to quietly marshal the support of other international legal eagles to put a stop to Gate’s corrupt judgments.

Anthony Gates is unfit to be judging others for he himself can not judge some basic fundamentals of life. Please allow us to be crude again but we believe that if Gates can not even figure out his own anatomy and its God-given specific purposes, then how can he expect the people of Fiji to believe his judgment on greater national issues that affect their lives and everyone else connected to Fiji? If Gates can’t even tell the difference between Harry and Garry by ruling that Harry belongs to Garry and not to Mary, by golly, what a terrible joke Fiji is in. All we can say is …..GOD SAVE FIJI!!!!

Many will detest that we have gone overboard by zeroing in on Gates sexual-orientation confusion. But it is time to say it like it is to these so-called leaders. Gates is meddling with the lives of many and if he wants to play the righteous role, then he must be prepared to reflect within himself first and be satisfied that all the nasty and rotting skeleton in his closet is completely thrown out and redeemed. Otherwise, who is he to come and tell us what is right and what is wrong! Deal with your buried issues first Gates and stop deceiving the people with your pervertial haughty rulings.

Fiji will be cut off from the Commonwealth come Dec 2008. That’s for sure. Will Fiji be cut off by the Pacific Forum in March 2009? We don’t think so eventhough the promised election will most definitely not happen then. The Pacific Forum will give Fiji more time to prepare itself for a general election which we predict will happen in 2010 at the earliest.

There are too many feathers that the Pacific Forum Leaders do not want to ruffle just yet. There’s the looming NZ general election with Kiwi politicians desperately chasing after the Pacific Islanders votes made up of mostly ex-Fiji citizens. And Fiji is also the hub of the Pacific Islands that act as the gateway for all imported items. Cut off Fiji and they run the risk of cutting off key life lines to these many Pacifc Island nations.

But there will be tougher trade sanctions and harsher treatment by the international community that will affect all Fiji citizens except the military regime who will continue to thrive with their unlimited access to taxpayers money.

Fiji will now have to kiss goodbye to the EU funds that was earmarked for the ailing sugar industry. The military regime has also lost interest in the sugar industry soon after Chaudhry’s boot from cabinet and it’s another arsenal they are using to keep Chaudry in check.

And without the EU funds and the regime’s financial support for the sugar industry, sugar daddy Chaudhry has somewhat been disarmed. But he is a survivor and has already announced FLP’s approval in principal to adopt the charter. He is slowly but surely inching his way into the regime’s plus-side again but don’t be surprised to see him launch an all-out attack against Frank’s team if election is not forthcoming. He is capable of crippling Fiji’s imports and exports with his international dock workers union connection. Remember 1987 and 2000? Perhaps it’s time that Qarase and Chaudhry team up to fight the military regime together for the sake of Fiji and her people!!!

C’mon dudes. Perk up! US of A is heading towards a new direction with Obama’s Democratic Party. Could they be signalling a lesson for Fiji to learn from? Perhaps it’s time to form a Fiji Democratic Party (FDP)?

Reality on the ground is this – the people of Fiji are tired of coup rambos like Frank, Steve and George. They are tired of screwed-up and financially broke politicians who either abuse their powers to buy votes or become over-night millionaires. People are tired of the Chaudhry’s, the Qarase’s, the Bainimarama’s, the Ganilau’s, Mara’s, Rabuka’s and so on. The chiefs and their religious community elders have let them down. They are tired of all the bullcrap coming out from every faction including the current military regime. All they want is a fresh election and a fresh leader.A leader who can inspire and give them hope like what Obama is to his supporters.

Could it be implying that Fiji needs a Fiji Democratic Party focusing on Fiji’s multi-racial 45 years and younger masses? If so, then forget about the older ones who can continue supporting the traditional but racially polarised parties that has been Fiji’s main coup ingredient since 1987. The older generation have proved to carry too much baggage and personal vendetta with hardly any real concern for Fiji’s future generation. And it’s the future of the i-pod generation that these mucked-up leaders of today are messing around with.

Awkay, so if that’s the case, then now is the time to start works on FDP. To start off with, FDP should be completely detached from the existing political power play happening between the existing parties and the regime. Let them get busy fighting over the President’s forum while FDP gets busy in setting up its own platform. FDP should concentrate on the commonalities between Frank’s charter, all major political parties, religious groups, public and private sector, NGOs, international community  and it’s own invigorating strategic plan as a starting point. Who knows, FDP could even become the main ice-breaker for Frank and all other political parties by providing the solution common to everyone.

But FDP must be careful in screening out political opportunists from existing parties. They are well known and must not be entertained. They will only corrupt FDP. Get fresh, credible faces who will be able to pay their own way during election campaign! Not the rejected unemployable ones who use politics for employment sake. There are many well educated and experienced people with their own money out there. Go for balanced individuals who value the importance of their traditional roots but are matured enough to understand that Fiji is for all who call Fiji home.

A tough call indeed but a possible one if Obama’s run for Presidency is anything to go by.

Awkay, so Vilisi was there, done it! But where are the big-mouthed know-it-all politicians? Yep,  some are still yepping away from the comfort of their homes and political offices. Others are lying very low, allowing frustrated citizens to fight their fight and will pounce back when they sniff an air of opportunity to walk down that corridor in parliament.

There are 71 members of parliament but none has dared raise a “We want democracy now” banner either at their homes or their political offices – says alot about how passionate they really are for the votes people gave them aye! While Qarase and his SDL group have decided to take matters to court, Chaudhry and his FLP team have gone quiet all of a sudden, Mick Beddoes is still rattling on with not much impact, Pramod Rae is doing the same, while the others have gone to sleep.

All the political party leaders are now saying they are ready for that President’s Forum and are moaning and groaning with the regime’s delaying tactics. If these politicans are serious enough, then they should support their calls for a return to democracy by championing peaceful protests like banner raising at their homes and political head quarters. Otherwise, their passive attempts that has proved quite useless uptil now is wasting everybodys time. If they don’t come out more forcefully, then we are sorry to say that these politicans don’t deserve the support of the people they are purporting to represent. The politicans should come out more assertively or else, stay home for good!

Khaiyum under attack

October 15, 2008

Well placed sources in Fiji say that the interim AG with multiple ministries is being attacked from within his own inner circle friends. Aiyaz Khaiyum is riding high on cloud nine after Gate’s land mark ruling that endorsed Khaiyum’s revolutionized Fiji imperatives thesis promoting its multi-faceted coup initiatives and its mutually exclusive judicial coup aye sayers.

But Khaiyum’s fast rise to glory is urking some of his well known supporters. Our sources say that Khaiyum has had a major falling out with Shaista Shameem, an influential legal mind who assisted in masterminding the dressing down and then the dressing up of the newly formed pro-Frank’s coup judicial machinery in Fiji.

According to these sources Khaiyum has lost favor with Shameem who thinks that Khaiyum is a bad cabinet representative for poor Indo-Fijians. It is asserted that Shaista, whose social skills jelled well with Mahen Chaudhry’s appeal to the poor Indo-Fijians is disgusted with Khaiyum’s fanciful high flying attitude. They say that Shameem, who has played a key role in pushing for the plights of these poor souls, is feeling disconnected from Khaiyum’s poshy approach to the new Fiji he is promoting. She has been heard to have said that power has gone into Khaiyum’s head and that he has lost the plot.

Other major players who are out of favor with Khaiyum are Pramesh Chand and John Samy leaving Khaiyum standing alone with his offshore legal advicers he continues to hire on a needs-be basis. Sources also say that Khaiyum’s big appetite for these overseas legal leechers is driving Shaista crazy who thinks that it is she who knows better than any of them.

1997 Constitution abrogated

October 14, 2008

The failed Vice President nominee, Epeli Nailatikau, is about to put his so-called chieflyness into full throttle after been briefed that he is operating under Frank’s new constitution. He is, after all the newly appointed interim Minister for Indigenous Affairs which automatically crowned him as the Great Council of Chiefs Chairman as per Frank’s constitution, not the 1997 Constitution. But wait a minute, didn’t Frank say that his regime is about multi-racial unity and one national identity for all citizens? Nailatikau’s new designation as Indigenous Affairs Minister means his portfolio is only specific to the native Fijians because they are the only indigenous people of Fiji. So what about the Indians and others? Why isn’t Frank appointing a special Minister to look after their affairs like what he has done for the Fijians?Isn’t Frank being racist and discriminatory here? Why isn’t the bleached haired woman from the Human Violators Office saying anything?

As we had mentioned in our earlier posts, Nailatikau’s appointment is two pronged. One, to forcefully impose himself as the next Vunivalu of Bau and two, to carve his path to the Nasese white house as Frank’s VP when Frank declares himself as President and ruler of Fiji under his own constitution, not the 1997 Constitution.

Frank may not have said it but the people of Fiji and the world must now wake up to the fact that Fiji’s 1997 Constitution has already been abrogated. A stark confirmation of its abrogation was last Thursday’s court ruling which legalised the forceful usurption of a democratically elected government. Fiji is now operating under Frank’s constitution whether you like it or not. Watch how Khaiyum goes to extreme lengths to repetitively name drop the 1997 Constitution as supreme law of the land. He is intentionally doing that to hide the real truth that the 1997 Constituton has been systematically replaced by Frank’s constitution with their own decrees and promulgations.

Need another proof that Fiji’s 1997 Constitution has been abrogated? Look no further than the responses from USA, Great Britain, Australia, NZ and other key members of the democratically governed international countries. They are saying that bans and sanctions currently in place will remain despite the High Court judgment of last week. Some are saying it will get tighter if elections is delayed unnecessarily. They wouldn’t  be doing this if the 1997 Constitution is still intact, would they? Wake up Fiji!

We need more Vilisis

October 13, 2008

We purposefully kept Vilisi’s heroism  as our head news since Friday 10th to pay tribute to this great man who braved all odds as he single-handedly fought the fight for the oppressed many in Fiji and abroad.

Vilisi’s case is a great example of what individuals can do to plead their case against Frank’s gestapo. Individual freedom fighters is the way to go in Fiji and Vilisi proved just how effective it can be. Public marches to protest the regime will never be approved a permit making Vilisi’s peaceful style of protest the most effective thus far.

Fiji’s public order act allows up to only 1 to 2 persons to stage a lightening protest without a permit but it must be peaceful and not create public disorder or chaos to traffic, etc. Any protest with more than 3 people standing together as a group borders on illegal public assembly if no valid permit exist so those who are planning to go on a protest blitz must be aware of these details.

Remember, if you are willing to go public with your views against Frank’s junta, the perfect way is to raise your banner at your own front lawn like what those brave youths did at the Lami democracy shrine. Their peaceful protest was far-reaching making it to the international and local news. Because they were doing their protest from the sanctuary of their own home, the military were forced to be on the offensive by committing unbelievable criminal activities and to break into the property to destroy the banners.

But take note that any public protest you plan will surely subject you to an intimidating police military interrogation and a minimum of 48 hours stay at one of the holding cells. If you have the gaals to hack it, so be it, if not, don’t risk it. You are dealing with madness that has no logic so be careful. Act like a dove but think like a serpent!
